David Palmer has lost his second round match at the North American Open in Richmond, Virginia to Finland’s Olli Tuominen, ending a disappointing tournament for the large Australian contingent.
The 14th seeded Tuominen upset Palmer in five games 11-9, 6-11, 11-4, 4-11, 11-8 to move into a quarter-final against Egyptian Amr Shabana.
Palmer, who joined fellow Australians Aaron Frankcomb, Ryan Cuskelly, Steve Finitsis and Zac Alexander, as early round exits from the year’s second Super Series tournament, will try to regroup before he heads to London next month to try and defend his Canary Wharf Classic title.
