Momen upsets Boswell at Malaysian Open

- Squash Australia

Australia’s disappointing CIMB Malaysian Open came to an end on Thursday night when Egypt’s Tarek Momen came from two games down to upset third seeded Stewart Boswell in the quarter-finals.
Boswell started strongly and looked on course for a semi-final spot but he couldn’t finish Momen off in the third and the Egyptian seventh seed stormed back to win 7-11, 10-12, 11-8, 11-3, 11-5.
“I sensed he was getting tired and when he couldn’t shut me out in the third and I knew we were going to a fifth,” Momen said.
He will now face fellow countryman Mohammed El Shorbagy in the semi-finals with the winner to take on either local Azlan Iskandar or Pakistani qualifier Farhan Mehboob.
The women’s semi-finals feature world number one Nicol David against England’s Alison Waters and second ranked Jenny Duncalf against Egyptian qualifier Raneem El Weleily.
