Good start for Aussie boys in Ecuador

Australian players enjoyed a good start to the individual championship at the World Junior Men's Championships in Quito with four of the five progressing to the second round.
With two rounds to be played on Wednesday, Sam Fife, Walter Koteka and Jack Molloy all won their opening matches, with Jacob Alexander enjoying a first round bye.
Only Jake Davidson bowed out, losing to highly regarded Indian Abhishek Pradhan 11-5, 11-5, 11-2.
Fife downed Korean Go Young-Jo 11-7, 11-3, 11-2, Koteka beat Welshman Sam Huxtable in five games 11-7, 8-11, 7-11, 11-8, 11-5 and Molloy accounted for Alejandro Castro of Ecuador 11-6, 8-11, 11-8, 11-7.
The boys all face tough second round clashes, with Alexander taking on Canada’s Arjun Gupta, Fife against Frenchman Damien Volland, Koteka playing Marwan El Shorbagy of Egypt and Molloy facing Pakisan’s Waqar Mehboob.
