David downs Brown, but Grinham through

- Squash Australia

World squash number one Nicol David of Malaysia had too much composure for Kasey Brown in the quarter-finals of the CIMB Singapore Masters as she beat the seventh seeded Australian 11-7, 11-5, 11-6 on Thursday night.
David stayed patient throughout the 40-minute encounter, working long rallies to her advantage and making her Australian opponent work just a little harder to keep up.
Brown admitted later she was outplayed.
“Nicol is just super quick around the court,” Brown said.
“I had a game plan in mind but didn't execute it properly. She wasn't giving much away at all throughout the match, even when I was trying to slow the game down.
"At times it felt like I had to win the rallies several times over just to get a point.”
There was better news for Queensland’s Rachael Grinham, who despatched US player Natalie Grainger in just 20 minutes.
"It was never going to be a long match with Natalie," Grinham said.
"She always goes for her shots and even if we went to five games it would be quick.”
Grinham takes on England’s Alison Waters in the semi-finals.
