Top seed next up as Alexander makes fourth round

Australia’s Jacob Alexander faces the daunting challenge of top seeded Egyptian Amr Khaled Khalifa after the 18-year-old from Brisbane reached the round of 16 at the World Junior Men's Squash Championships in Quito on Thursday.
Alexander beat Christopher Jung of the USA in straight games 11-6, 11-6, 13-11 to set up his clash with the top ranked Egyptian.
The AIS scholarship holder earlier downed Canadian Arjun Gupta 11-7, 11-6, 11-9 in the second round.
Alexander is the last remaining Australian in the main draw following the second round defeats on Wednesday of fellow Queenslander Sam Fife and West Australian pair Walter Koteka and Jack Molloy.
Egyptian Marwan El Shorbagy saw off a determined Koteka 11-4, 11-6, 11-4,  Frenchman Damien Volland downed Fife 11-5, 6-11, 11-4, 11-8 and Pakistan’s Waqar Mehboob beat Molloy 11-3, 11-6, 11-7.
The individual championship will be followed by the teams’ event beginning on Tuesday.
Australia are seeded sixth in the teams behind Egypt, Pakistan, England, India and Germany.
