Brown beats doubles partner Urquhart

Taree’s Kasey Brown won the battle of the doubles partners as she beat Donna Urquhart in the second round of the Hong Kong Open squash tournament on Thursday.
Brown and Urquhart will play doubles together at the Commonwealth Games in October but there was no room for sentiment as Brown edged a close fought contest 7-11, 11-7, 11-2, 11-6.
She will now play second seed Jenny Duncalf in the quarter-finals for the second tournament in succession – they met at the same stage of the Australian Open in Canberra with the Englishwoman winning in four games.
Queensland’s Rachael Grinham also progressed to the quarter-finals when she beat Dutchwoman Vanessa Atkinson 11-7, 11-9, 11-6.
Grinham next faces Australian Open champion Madeline Perry of Northern Ireland following Perry’s 11-7, 12-10, 11-1 win over Egypt’s Engy Kheirallah.
Qualifier Lisa Camilleri’s run came to an end when she was beaten by England’s Laura Massaro in straight games 11-3, 11-6, 11-0.
Both Australian men bowed out in tight matches.
Tenth seed David Palmer fell to Frenchman Thierry Lincou 11-7, 4-11, 11-7, 11-9, while Cameron Pilley gave fourth seeded Egyptian Karim Darwish a huge fright before the former world number one recovered to win in five 11-5, 7-11, 7-11, 11-9, 11-6.
