Women lead the way

- Squash Australia

Australia’s rising women’s squash stars have led the way in the latest rankings issued by the sport’s two professional bodies.
Kasey Brown cemented her place in the top 10 when she rose two places to number eight on the Women’s International Squash Players Association (WISPA) rankings, a career best for the 25-year-old from Taree in New South Wales.
With Toowoomba’s Rachael Grinham at number three, there are now two Australians firmly in the top 10.
Brown’s Commonwealth Games teammate Donna Urquhart also rose a place to 16, thanks to her efforts in reaching the Australian Open quarter-finals in Canberra.
There was further good news for Queenslander Lisa Camilleri, who climbed one position to a career high 31 and Victoria’s Amelia Pittock, who jumped 10 places to 54.
However the big movers came further down the list, with Redcliffe’s Samantha Davies up 20 places to 74 and 17-year-old Tamika Saxby from Coffs Harbour storming into the top 100 with a 29-place improvement to 86.
Malaysia’s Nicol David was unchanged at number one, ahead of England’s Jenny Duncalf and Grinham.
Meanwhile, an incredible sporting record finally ended when David Palmer slipped out of the Professional Squash Association top 10 for the first time in a decade.
The 34-year-old dropped two places to number 12.
Yamba’s Cameron Pilley rose a position to 16 and is now just four places behind his Commonwealth Games teammate, with Stewart Boswell the third Australian in the top 20 at number 18.
Ryan Cuskelly jumped three places to a best-ever 37 and Aaron Frankcomb was up one spot to 43.
Egypt’s Ramy Ashour regained the world number one ranking from England’s Nick Matthew, with Egyptian duo Amr Shabana and Karim Darwish at three and four.
