Cardwell closes in on top 50

Cardwell, daughter of Squash Australia Hall of Famer Vicki Cardwell, claimed her first ever win as a professional when she took out the Australia Day Challenge in Brisbane.
The 20-year-old Cardwell has moved up two places to a career-high 55th in the world.
Australia’s three highest ranked women have all slipped in the latest rankings.
Rachael Grinham was down one place to six, Kasey Brown dropped two spots to eight and Donna Urquhart was down one to 15.
Malaysia’s Nicol David remained at number one ahead of English pair Jenny Duncalf and Laura Massaro.
New South Welshman Cameron Pilley was Australia’s highest ranked male player, up one place to 15, while Ryan Cuskelly was at 38 and Zac Alexander 44.
Englishman Nick Matthew reclaimed top spot from countryman James Willstrop, with Frenchman Gregory Gaultier at number three.
