Cuskelly bows out of North American Open

AIS scholarship holder Ryan Cuskelly bowed out of the North American Open men’s squash tournament in Richmond, Virginia following a close three-game loss to Egypt’s Karim Abdel Gawad on Monday.
Cuskelly, the only Australian in action on the opening day of the world series tournament, was unable to convert the points that mattered, going down 11-8, 11-9, 11-9 in just under an hour.
Three more AIS athletes play their first round matches on Tuesday.
Cameron Pilley takes on Canadian Shawn Delierre, Zac Alexander faces Scotland’s Alan Clyne and Matthew Karwalski plays Australian Open champion Ramy Ashour of Egypt.
