Hedrick sets up clash with top seed

Melbourne’s Rex Hedrick a AIS Scholarship holder will be aiming for a repeat of his Australia Day Challenge result when he takes on top seeded Malaysian Asyraf Azan in the quarter-finals of the Hibiscus Gardens Open in Brisbane on Friday.
Hedrick upset Azan in the semi-finals of the Australia Day Challenge in January on his way to his maiden tour title.
He set up a rematch with the Malaysian after his 11-9, 11-5, 11-6 win over another Malaysian, Elvinn Keo, on Thursday.
Hedrick was joined in the quarter-finals by Caloundra’s Jamie McErvale, a 5-11, 11-9, 14-12, 11-5 winner over fellow Queenslander Nathan Stevenson.
McErvale, also an AIS Scholarship holder will now play second seed Nafiizwan Adnan in the next round.
