Awards

Squash Australia recognises the support and effort of many dedicated personnel within the Squash community in the preparation and conduct of squash operations and tournaments, and the accomplishment and dedication to the sport by its athletes, coaches, referees, volunteers, clubs and members.

Squash Australia acknowledges these personnel with annual national level awards in the following categories:

Award Criteria

The Award categories are indicated below, along with the mechanism for selection e.g. vote based and/or panel and criteria:

BLK Athlete of the Year Award

  • Public vote 25%
  • High performance Management team 75%

Criteria

  1. Squash Australia recognised events results
  2. Commonwealth Games or World Championship event results
  3. Contribution to the sport on and off the court

CGA Athlete of the Year Award - Junior Female

  • Public vote 25%
  • High performance Management team 75%

Criteria

  1. Results at national level events and WSF junior ranking events
  2. Results at local and state title events
  3. Rate of improvement throughout the year
  4. Courteous and polite on the squash court

CGA Athlete of the Year Award - Junior Male

  • Public vote 25%
  • High performance Management team 75%

Criteria

  1. Results at national level events and WSF junior ranking events
  2. Results at local and state title events
  3. Rate of improvement throughout the year
  4. Courteous and polite on the squash court

AIS Coach of the Year award 

  • Public vote 25%
  • Squash Australia Board 75%

Criteria

  1. Coaching work in support of Squash Australia programmes
  2. Coaching work in support of squash in Australia
  3. Working with young players
  4. Rate of coaching development through the year 

Marsh Insurance Club of the Year

  • Public Vote 25%
  • Squash Australia Board 75%

Criteria

  1. Largest increase in affiliations compared to previous year
  2. Hosting successful events
  3. Working closely with Squash Australia's programmes
  4. Have players competing in pennant competitions
  5. Use of matrix
  6. Participate in Oz Squash initiatives
  7. Track record of recruiting new and social players

Mercure Gold Coast Referee of the Year award 

  • Public vote 25%
  • Squash Australia Board 75%

Criteria

  1. Referee impact at Australian events
  2. Referee at major events
  3. Commitment in support of referee development in Australia

Victor Fair Play Award 

  • Public vote 25%
  • Squash Australia Board 75%

Criteria

  1. Nominated by State and Territory organisations or National Tournament Directors
  2. Recognition of players with best behaviour and sportsmanship
  3. Recognition of volunteering, officiating, coaching and working with young players

Sport Australia Volunteer of the Year award 

  • Public vote 25%
  • Squash Australia Board 75%

Criteria

  1. Contribution to Squash Australia programmes
  2. Contribution to squash in Australia
  3. Volunteers in their spare time
  4. Works with young players
  5. Works to support events

Dunlop State/Territory of the Year award 

  • Squash Australia Board (100%)

Criteria

  1. State with largest overall affiliation increase
  2. State/Territory with the largest social participant increase
  3. Fully utilises SportyHQ for leagues and affiliation collection
  4. Contribution to Squash Australia programmes
  5. Contribution to squash in Australia
