Coach Education

Coaches play an important role in the sport of Squash through their interaction with players, support staff, parents and supporters. Coaches provide a safe environment for their players which lead to and build on skill development, tactical awareness, teamwork and enjoyment of the game.

Squash Australia in conjunction with their state bodies are committed to providing education, development and resources for coaches at all levels to increase their knowledge and understanding of the game. It is also important that coaches are valued for their role and enjoy a fun and rewarding experience along their coaching pathway.

Squash Australia’s eLearning Platform aspires to make becoming an accredited coach a stress free and readily accessible for all Australians. In the country with large regional areas, it is important that the coaching courses are available online.

Since its launch, the eLearning Platform has seen great success in coaches accessing and becoming accredited online. Out of 465 users, close to 100 users have completed either their Foundation and/or Club Coach Accreditation through the eLearning Platform

The Foundation Coach course consists of 10 slides of informational material, including videos outlining good Squash play. This course also consists of important terminology and the rules of the game. To become a Foundation Coach, users must complete an exam on the eLearning Portal and then submit relevant documentation for approval.

The Club Coach follows a similar format to the Foundation course though it also includes an online quiz that users must complete.

All accreditations acquired through the eLearning Platform are valid for four years.

Squash Australia aims to add further coaching resources and courses over the next two years.

To register for the coaching courses, please register for the Squash Australia eLearning Platform at www.elearning.squash.org.au
