Athlete Wellbeing and Engagement (AW&E) is designed to support athletes as they navigate Squash Australia’s high performance program, empowering them to find a balance between wellbeing, engagement in activities outside of training and competition, and the requirements of elite sport. This includes providing athletes with opportunities for personal and professional development, as well as ready access to tailored mental health servicing and meaningful community engagement initiatives.

“For a long time I have struggled with the idea of what to do one day after my professional sporting career. I reached out to Sarah Roder at the AIS Athlete and Wellbeing and Engagement program for advice and I'm so glad I did. Even though I am based in the UK, she was able to be flexible enough to find a time that we could both speak online for our appointments. Sarah helped me explore my personality traits, strengths and interests, and it was a real eye opener for me to learn how I could apply my skills as an athlete in other professions. Thanks to her help and guidance, I have now enrolled in a TAFE NSW course in Event Management, which I can do fully online over the next 2 years, alongside my -professional sporting career.”

“I have really benefitted from the AW&E program.  My AW&E Manager played a big part in making my relocation from Adelaide to the Gold Coast as smooth and rewarding as possible.  She helped me to find a place to live, to find a job, to enrol in University and with my overall wellbeing.  I cannot thank Sarah enough for all of her guidance and support.”
